Default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessionsx in Florida were all down from the previous but the state stillposted 58,932 foreclosure filings, up 50 percent from May 2008. Only with one in every 64 housing unitsin foreclosure, and with one in everyy 144 housing units in foreclosure, had higher rates. In the tri-county area, Broward County saw the most foreclosure sin May, with 11,325, or one in evert 71 housing units – a nearlyu 10 percent increase over April. Miami-Dade ranked second, with 7,7732 filings, or one out of every 125 units – down 31.2 percent from April. Palm Beach Countyu had 3,782 filings, or one out of everyh 169 units – up 32.
8 percent over Nationwide, there were 321,480 foreclosured filings, one out of every 398 unitw – down 6 percent from April, but up 18 percentf from May 2008. “May foreclosure activituy was the third-highest month on record, and markedx the third straight month where the total number of properties with foreclosure filings exceeded 300,000 – a first in the history of our report,” RealtyTra CEO James J. Saccacio said in a news release. Othetr states with foreclosure rates ranking amongthe nation’zs 10 highest were Arizona, Georgia, Colorado, Idaho and Ohio.
