They’re wanting They want to createmeaningful experiences.” consumers are choosing to have services at theitr homes instead of at churches or funerak homes, Rosson said.
They want video presentations. They want memoria l folders with photos and informationm aboutthe person’s life. “The industry tosses around theword ‘personalization’ a Slocum said. “I’m hearing familieds that want to take charge of thememoriaol service. It seems less centeredd on the physical body and more on the familg and community of people who loved that Slocumsaid he’s talked to people who held memoriaol services in homes, parks, veterans’ memorialas and even, in the case of an art in an art gallery. “Thew scary thing about this for funeral directorsis there’s no undertaked required,” he said.
Slocum said most states have far more funeralo businesses than theirmarkets “California is one of the great he said. “The numbef of funeral homes is much more in line with the Asa result, it’s much easier to find a low-cost funeral service or cremation.” Fewer funerap homes means cheaper funerals? That might soundr like it defies the normal rules of supplyt and demand. “Everybody says competitiomn is good and decreases pricesxfor consumers,” Slocum said. “Itr doesn’t work exactly that way for funerall services. You have only one purchasew to make at thefuneral home.
